Solar-Powered Electric Vehicle Charging Station
Merit Solar's Solar-Powered Electric Vehicle Charging Station (patent pending) provides the infrastructure needed to power the innovative new generation of electric vehicles (EV) that are currently being released. The Charging Station is ideal for charging an EV fleet, attracting EV customers to a place of business, or encouraging employees to "go green." The Charging Station is intended for fleet charging, shopping malls or stores, apartment communities, employee parking lots, truck stops, roadside rest areas and more.
The Charging Station is constructed of recyclable metal and designed with a formidable grid-tied system that meets all construction codes. Solar panels mounted to the roof generate energy that is converted into electricity and used to power vehicles. Each parking space within the Charging Station is outfitted with a retractable, easy-to-use electrical charging connector that conforms to national auto manufacturers' specifications.
In consumer applications, the Charging Station can also be outfitted for credit card use. The Charging Station is designed to the specifications of a traditional 9' x 20' parking space but can be customized to accommodate any site or fleet requirement.
Special architectural finishes are available as well as internet access while charging. The metal materials used to construct the Charging Station have a lifetime structural certification. The solar modules have a 25-year warranty.
Based on the savings in gas purchases and the electricity that is generated using solar power, the Charging Station can pay for itself over time. The payback period may be escalated through the use of federal, state and local tax credits or revenues generated through consumer fees.
